Quote of the day: “The Blossoms and leaves in plenty From the apple tree fall each day; The merry breezes approach them, And with them merrily play.” — Heinrich Heine
The scent of spring is in the air
The air is full of the scent of apple blossoms. The crab apple trees on our street burst into bloom today and the breezes carry their sweet scent on the air.
Ahhhh… I love this time of year. When we were younger I loved our motorcycle rides in the springtime – Jon in front driving, and me behind him taking in the wonderful scents of spring in the air.
Now the arrival of the apple blossoms is a signal for me to grab my camera and macro lens and go outside to soak up all the beauty. A slight wind was blowing the flowers so it took patience to wait for it to still enough to make a couple of photos. But the breeze also carried the scent of the apple blossoms everywhere.
We started out with clouds, then sunshine, then clouds, and so on most of the day. I kept my eyes on the skies and when the light looked interesting I headed out to our neighbor’s yard and to the park area across the street to make a few photos.
Each time I went out, the lovely scent of spring in the air made me stop and breath several breaths of gratitude for such amazing beauty and aromas. The dandelions are also showing off their fine blossoms. There are lots of them in the park area across the street and next to our house.
Every time I see a patch of dandelion flowers in all their glory, I remember, when my daughter was young and her 3-year-old playmate first gazed on our dandelion-filled backyard. His eyes got as big as saucers and he exclaimed, “You have the most beautiful yard I’ve ever seen!”
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. See through the eyes of beauty today. Breath with a nose for beautiful scents today. Listen for beautiful sounds. Your life will be enriched when you do so.
