Quote of the day:
“I rose from marsh mud
algae, equisetum, willows,
sweet green, noisy
birds and frogs.”

Spring Peepers Budding Green
As May strings several 70-degree-plus days together in Minneapolis, spring gallops forward. The lawn is bright green again.
Magnolia trees strut their stuff with brilliant, heart-breaking blooms. Budding leaves create a haze of yellow-green in the woods.
Spring—It happens every year and it’s still a miracle!
There is nothing like the bright, fresh, yellow-greens of spring. The leaves are unblemished and whole. Their color is bright and shiny new. Gardens and woodlands are filled with all myriads of different shades of green, all of them glorious.
Spring peepers are singing a delightful chorus each night in the pond near our house. Open window sleeping brings welcome fresh air and coolness in the night.
The smell of rain in the air tells me it is raining even before I look out the window. There is a lightness to everyone’s step, as the brightening days brighten spirits.
Gardeners are happy to have their hands in the dirt again. Kids are happy to be outdoors playing and running. Bikers, joggers, and walkers are happy to feel the warmer weather and see spring’s arrival.
