Quote of the day: “There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.” ― Martha Graham
Last week I purchased an upgrade to Adobe Lightroom 4 after reading several reviews about how good the improvements to it were. This week it arrived and I have been in picture editing heaven!
I love it when something exceeds my expectations and the Lightroom 4 improvements did! It’s new handling of highlights and shadows is wonderful and I’ve found that it really improves how some of my “problem” pictures look!
The first thing on my gratitude list this week is Unexpected Surprises!
I had not planned to upgrade Lightroom as I was very happy with Lightroom 3. One of my favorite photographers, David duChemin, was one of many who reported how great Lightroom 4 is. DuChemin’s before and after photos and the description of the changes from other photography thought leaders persuaded me to order the upgrade. Wow is all I can say. I’m having so much fun, seeing how much better I can make my photos look! I will be busy for weeks, playing with photos and Lightroom 4.
It’s only two weeks until I leave for my Hawaii Winter Walk-about! I have connected with people here who lived in Hawaii and some who live in Hawaii now that I hope to visit. Excitement is rising and fear subsiding as I move into action.
The second thing on my gratitude list this week is Generous Friends and Strangers. I am so grateful for everyone who has generously helped me connect with people in Hawaii and grateful to complete strangers who warmly welcome me.
The weather was cold, then warm, then cold, and I have fought off a cold (the viral kind) so haven’t gotten out to photograph a lot this week. Last week I found a piece of bark on the ground that was so beautiful I brought it home to photograph. I have enjoyed having it on my desk all week and took time out to photograph it with some feathers.
The third thing on my gratitude list this week is the Dance of Life. Everything is always moving and changing. Fear dissolves. Excitement arrives. And I get to be a part of this wonderful dance.
May you also experience the wonder and beauty of the Dance of Life. I urge you to think about stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing the unknown.

Thank you so much. Yes, it does, I found it so striking to see all of the apples on bare branches.

Mmm, lovely – I feel like I had a wonderful little visual vacation. All your photos are beautiful, but I’m really drawn to the bark and feathers – two of my loves.

Oh my goodness, your photos are lovely! Your trees truly look like they could dance right off my screen! Visiting Hawaii sounds like a pretty great way to step out of your comfort zone. Have a great time!
