Quote of the day: “It is important to expect nothing, to take every experience, including the negative ones, as merely steps on the path, and to proceed.” ― Ram Dass
For the past two weeks I’ve been taking care of sick family members. And I’ve stayed just on this side of illness myself, feeling less than great, but not getting as sick as my daughter and husband. Goals and plans have gone by the wayside while I do what needs to be done and take extra care of myself to avoid getting sick.
There is an old saying that I often think of in times like these—”Know how to make God laugh? Tell him your plans!”
Things like writing blog posts, going out on photo outings, and even my beloved Ai Chi classes have been put on hold. Preparation for my walk-about in Hawaii has also been postponed. Outdoor cleanup and leaf raking will wait until we’re feeling better.
I could get anxious about all the things I planned not happening. I could go into overdrive, trying to get everything done despite the virus I’m fighting. But I’m not.
I am feeling confident that I am doing just what needs to be done. So long as I relax into being and full acceptance, all is well.
What are you resisting in your life? Where do you need to relax into being and full acceptance?
