Quote of the day: “If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” — Henry David Thoreau

I took this photo two years ago in Northern Minnesota. I’ve always liked the tall flower behind the fence standing by itself. It could be a portrait of the kid who never quite fit in with the crowd. That was me when I was young. I was the “smart kid” in high school when it wasn’t cool to be smart, an avid reader, thoughtful, and not very good at small talk. While being different was painful then, now I’m quite comfortable in my skin and glad to be an avid reader, thoughtful, and not given to small talk. I listen to my heart. I live with joy.

How about you? Do you follow your own heart or follow the crowd? There is something freeing in recognizing who you are and embracing it fully.

Very pretty. Subtle compostion that works well with your lovely pink flower. Insightful words as well.
