Abstract Flower “Painting” created by layering and combining photos of lilies and calla lily

Today I layered and painted photos in Photoshop to create the images included in this post. I used the liquify filter and various blend modes to create an abstract “painting.”  Combining photos this way reminds me of quilting, where various fabrics of different colors and patterns are selected, then cut into pieces and sewed together to make something new and beautiful.

Both of the “paintings” in this post were created using the same photos.

What do you think of this abstract “art form”? I’m intrigued by the possibilities.
