Quote of the day:   “There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” – Edith Wharton

Daffodil Bouquet

Today as I was talking with a friend, I enthusiastically said, “Let me show you what I was playing with yesterday. I got a bunch of daffodils to photograph. Aren’t these amazing? I love the shades and shapes of them.”

My friend responded, “I want to love doing something as much as you love photography! You light up when you talk about it.”

I feel so lucky to have discovered this passion. I used to say that I was interested in lots of things but nothing really held my attention for long other than reading and gardening, and neither of those really felt like a calling. But when I discovered a passion for photography, it has become the one thing I cannot live without (well, I could live, but so long as I have a camera, I cannot NOT do it).

As a photographer I feel called to spread the light by becoming a mirror that reflects the beauty I experience in the world.

What calls you? What lights you up? What brings you joy? If you don’t find a way to practice whatever it is you love, we will all be poorer. There is only 1 you. Only you can bring your gifts to spread the light and spread the joy.
