Quote of the day: “Every step in the process of taking pictures is a step toward the light, an experience of the holy, an encounter with the God who is at eye level, whose image I see wherever I look.” —Jan Phillips God is at Eye Level

Maidenhair Fern Mandala

Maidenhair Fern Mandala

Today I played with Photoshop.  I had been wanting to find a better way to make photo a mandala (also known as photo kaleidoscope) and today I found a nice YouTube video that taught me what I wanted to know. Picking the part of a photo to use is part art and part luck.  After two or three false starts the Mandala you see above was my first keeper from today’s play. I love maidenhair ferns and this mandala feels magical to me.

Here’s my second keeper. It is actually part of a portrait shot of one of my friends. I love the curves in it and the designs near the center that look so intricate and delicate.

When was the last time you played at something just for the fun of it?
