Quote of the day: “May you experience each day as a sacred gift woven around the heart of wonder. ” ― John O’Donohue, Eternal Echoes: Celtic Reflections on Our Yearning to Belong
Oh, how I love to live in a state of wonder and gratitude. Every day becomes a gift. Beauty shines out everywhere I look. Some days it’s easy to live there. It happens as naturally as breathing in and breathing out. Other days, it’s only by application of great discipline that I find any grace or wonder or gratitude.
For me, the practice of deliberate gratitude helps. So does meditation and prayer. Dancing, listening to great music, and creating are also disciplines that work for me. Most days, grabbing my camera and starting to make pictures takes me into grace and wonder. Writing this blog never fails to make me count my blessings and begin to enter sacred space.
I think that when we practice seeing beauty everywhere, it helps create a space for wonder, gratitude, and bliss to emerge. I know it has helped create great joy in my life. Beauty is everywhere, even in the most unexpected places. Look in the mirror — you are beautiful.
What disciplines will you practice to bring you into a state of grace?
