Quote of the day: “Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” ― Apple Inc.

It’s winter in Minnesota. You can complain about it and stay indoors, or you can embrace it and get out and do something to have fun.  Sunday, a month-long Minnesota original project, called the Art Shanty Project, ended for 2012.  In the words of their website, “Art Shanty Projects is an artist driven temporary community exploring the ways in which relatively unregulated public spaces can be used as new and challenging artistic environments to expand notions of what art can be.”

The Art Shanty Project was a group of shanty’s out on the ice on Medicine Lake, near where I live.  Some of the participants in the Art Shanty Project lived in their shanties out on the lake for the entire month.  Said one of the residents, “Nights out on the ice were incredibly beautiful, if you walked out to the center of the lake, the stars were all you could see.”

I love the Art Shanty project. It’s so different and creative and fun.  The shanties remained on Monday, even though the fun was mostly over with.  Wish I had stopped by just one day earlier – another reminder that when you think about taking photographs of something, do it today, not tomorrow.

So what are you doing that’s different and creative and fun today?
