Quote of the day: “When you are compassionate with yourself, you trust in your soul, which you let guide your life. Your soul knows the geography of your destiny better than you do.” – John O’Donohue
I’ve been having a slow week. Escalating pain issues have caused me to slow down and listen to my body rather than trying to push through the pain in an effort to get things done. It seems I need to learn this lesson again and again in my life. There is so much I want to do. But I am getting better at holding compassion for myself and accepting the limitations I have, with a modicum of grace.
Yesterday I got a small bouquet of flowers and played with still life photography. The photo above was an experiment with zooming the lens with a long exposure. I loved the burst of color it created. I also added a texture created by Kim Klassen (KimKlassenCafe) . She’s currently giving away 12 textures for the 12 days of Christmas on her blog.
The weather has been incredibly mild for Minnesota this past week. Yesterday it rained all day. I looked through my photos from a year ago and found one from Dec. 17 that shows the contrast between then and now. See the photos below:

Love the zoomed shot with the texture you added. Beautiful and maybe one you should carry in your online store. I’ve noticed that simple is what people are buying. Have you noticed that, too? I hope you’re feeling better. Definitley listen to your body. I really like the quote you chose for today. And wow, last Dec and this are very differnt views at your house!

Thanks. I am thinking of adding it to my online store. I put together a set of 5 note cards from yesterday’s photo session I’m thinking of offering them for sale, but I’m also thinking of offering the zoomed shot on it’s own.
I’ve also noticed a trend towards simple in the shots that are selling. I’m just getting started selling my work, so sales are still pretty slow overall but I’m satisfied to be selling at all at this point in time. I keep learning something new every day and love what I’m doing so life is good (even when pain kicks up).
