I had a bad cold for almost 2 weeks. Fortunately I’m on the mend but even while I was not feeling well, I made a practice of finding beauty in my surroundings.

Finding Beauty Where You Are

Almost every day I picked up my camera and made photographs of the beauty I saw around me. Even if I only made a few photographs, it helped lift my spirits to consciously choose to find beauty in my surroundings.

You can try this practice yourself. You don’t need to make photographs but sometimes consciously making photographs helps to remind you to see your world through eyes tuned to beauty.

Set aside 2-3 minutes to simply look around you and see the beauty that is there.

Sometimes it’s flashy. Sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes it’s soothing. Sometimes it’s invigorating.

Beauty is everywhere.

Finding beauty where you are is a choice.

Choose beauty.

See beauty.

Find beauty.

Walk in beauty.

These are some photos I made in our house, through the windows, and from our deck.

“Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.”
Anne Frank

May you walk in beauty.

So true – find beauty and let your heart be thankful in that beauty.
