baby it's cold outside

Pond behind our house with ice rink cleared

Baby, It’s Cold Outside!

Fresh snow yesterday and last night leaves us in another white-covered wonderland. But dropping temperatures make it a very cold wonderland. I had hoped to go outside for a walk with my camera today. I think I’ll skip it.

With a wind chill at -5 degrees now and heading nowhere but down for the next 24 hours I think I’ll stay warm indoors by the fire with a nice cuppa tea and enjoy our Christmas tree.

I noticed that our neighbor has been out clearing an ice rink on the pond behind our house. I can’t wait to see the kids out skating on it. But I think they may wait until Monday to go skating, when the frigid cold and wind chills lift.

In the meantime I’m indoors finishing up my final preparations for Christmas, checking items off my list, and playing around with old photos. And I’m working on some gift cards for our grandkids with activities they can do with Jon and me, things like “Lunch out with Grandpa and Grandma” and “Visit park or playground of your choice with Grandpa and Grandma.” It’s a way to give of our time and spend time doing fun things with the kids instead of getting still more things for them (yes, we have a few gifts for them as well but I am working hard on decreasing the amount of unnecessary stuff we accumulate or help others accumulate).

May you walk in beauty (and stay warm).
