Quote of the day:

Whenever you start guiding yourself by caring about how you feel, you
start guiding yourself back into your Stream of Source Energy, and that’s
where your clarity is; that’s where your joy is; that’s where your flexibility
is; that’s where your balance is; that’s where your good ideas come from.
That’s where all the good stuff is accessed from.

Wow! What a week! My calendar looked almost empty at the beginning of the week but it wasn’t.  I’m getting ready to head out to my third evening meeting in a row. And my days this week have been filled with inspiration and activity.

I finally put together my fall class schedule. I’m so excited about the classes I am teaching this fall.

Drum roll…..Ta! Da!…Introducing

Beginner’s Mind Photography Class

Start Where You Are, See More Beauty

“In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities. In the expert’s mind there are few.” -Shunryu Suzuki

When you pause and intentionally notice your surroundings, you will see beauty, everywhere you look. It doesn’t matter where you are.  You can be in your house, out in the country, or in a gritty urban neighborhood. If you simply bring your camera and an intention to pause and notice your surroundings, you will see beauty.

This class starts where you are and provides ideas, exercises, and information that will help you begin seeing, experimenting, and improving your photography skills.  Seeing beauty brought more joy into my life. I think it will bring joy into your life too.

Use any kind of camera—phone camera, point-and-shoot, DSLR.  This class is not about the gear, it’s about becoming present to the astounding beauty that surrounds us and enjoying that beauty by making photographs.

Daytime class – 1:30 – 3:30 PM, Wednesdays, September 18 and 25, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, and November 6

Evening class – 6:30 – 8:30 PM, Thursdays, September 19 and 26, October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, and November 7

I also love Adobe Lightroom and think it’s the best thing since sliced bread!  So I’m offering a beginning Lightroom class.

Using Adobe Lightroom — New Class this fall

“With every version Lightroom gets better and better…” — David duChemin

“I do over 90% of my editing work in Lightroom. It’s so much easier to use than Photoshop” — (paraphrased) – Douglas Beasley at Vision Quest photo workshop

More and more of the photographers I know use Lightroom.  I use Lightroom to catalog and organize my photos, edit photos, create collections for slideshows, and more.  I LOVE using Lightroom and I’m so excited to teach others how to use it. As a software engineer for over 25 years, I appreciate great software when I use it.  As a photographer, I love the intuitive interface and convenient features that make organizing and editing my 50,000+ photos a breeze.

I’ve used Lightroom versions 3, 4, and 5, worked on PC’s for 25 years and Macs for over 5 years. I understand computers and I understand Lightroom.  Let me help you get started using one of my favorite tools.

Join me for a 4 week hands on class that teaches you what you need to know to organize your photos, edit photos, and use Lightroom’s other convenient features.

Daytime class – 1:00 – 3:30 PM, Tuesdays, September 17 and 24, October 2 and 9

I’m also looking at teaching a 5-week photography class for kids.

These classes are a great deal. Take a look. Register soon. Space is limited.

What great sounding classes! The idea of simply being present to the beauty all around really speaks to me, and establishing a photography practice playing with this sounds divine. The Lightroom class sounds intriguing as well. I always find myself struggling with Photoshop.

This sounds so wonderful. One of these days I will be able to clear up my schedule and take photography classes and maybe even learn how to use my DSLR.
