Quote of the day: “When a great moment knocks on the door of your life, it is often no louder than the beating of your heart, and it is very easy to miss it. ”
― Boris Pasternak

Yesterday was one of those picture perfect summer days—not too hot, not too cold. Even though I had a list of things to do, I called a friend and said, “Hey, it’s a beautiful day. Do you want to catch some sunshine somewhere with me?”  We ended up sitting out on the deck in the sun and talking together. What a lovely break in my day.

Mundane, simple, and perfect

At the end of the day, I had checked off everything on my list, but I’m so glad that I listened to my heart and connected with my friend before focusing on my to-do list.

There is always some chore or work task to accomplish. The grass keeps growing, the dishes keep getting dirty and life goes on.

Opportunity knocks. Will you answer?

Take a moment to soak up the sunshine, spend time with a friend, do something kind for someone else.

Busy day at the park

This morning the sun was shining and the weather forecast was for clouds to move in by afternoon. I headed over to French Regional Park for a walk and photography. As I look out my window now, the clouds have moved in again.

If I had waited until “the chores were done” I would have missed the opportunity for a walk in the sunshine.

What moment or opportunity for joy is knocking softly at your door today?

Slow exposure of rock in the lake. (Last year this rock was almost completely out of the water – this year almost covered!)
