Hello sun

Minnehaha Falls

After days of clouds the sun came out yesterday for awhile and again this morning (briefly).

Hello Sun!  Hello Clouds!

The weather has been a set of extremes this spring—lots of cold, snow, rain, and severe storms.

And yet the beauty remains, the crab apple trees bloom, the trees leaf out, the grass turns green and grows faster than we can mow it.

I’ve been basking in all of the bright greens of spring, not minding whether it was cloudy or bright outside. On cloudy days the light is so wonderful for photography. On sunny days I enjoy basking in the suns bright rays.

I’m saying “Yes” to whatever the weather is.

The alternative is to complain or feel unhappy.  Why would I want to complain or feel unhappy about something which I can do nothing to change?

Tuesday, on our 35th anniversary, my husband and I went for a walk at Minnehaha Falls. It was a cloudy/rainy day and we decided to save a visit to Nerstrand Big Woods State Park for another day. I didn’t really feel like driving a couple of hours each way to the park.

Minnehaha Falls was a perfect choice for the day. The clouds created a wonderful light to show off the falls and the bright spring greens all around us. The waterfall glowed in the diffuse light and I made some photos that I really like.

One of the many blessing of photography in my life is that I’ve learned to appreciate cloudy days in a whole new way. How about you? Are there things which you cannot change that have been bugging you lately? Can you find a way to say “Yes” to those things?
