Quote of the day:

“She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
“Winter is dead.”

Signs of spring

Abstract Art

Sunshine, melting snow, mild weather—I can almost smell spring in the air. All around me I see signs of spring. The ice on the pond has shrunk to a small white island floating on the far side. And today I saw open water and lots of different kinds of ducks in Gray’s Bay on Lake Minnetonka.

Daffodils are pushing up, even though they have been covered with snow again and again this April. The weather forecast for this weekend is for three 70-degree days in a row! What a change. I’m not sure we’ve seen 50 degrees yet this spring.

The pond that is across the street and down the hill from us also has shrinking ice and many wood ducks and one black and white duck that is unfamiliar to me. I’m going to have to look it up in my bird book later.

Everyone I know is heading outdoors to take in fresh air and sunshine.
