Reflections of Trees – with kk_kristin texture

Today I played with combining Kim Klassen’s texture kk_kristin with water photos. I have been drawn to photographing water in my recent photo shoots. Reflections,ripples, light, and movement create watercolors of ever-changing beauty.

Simplicity. Beauty. Light. Color. I love playing with these elements. Sometimes I find a texture that complements the beauty of a photo. Sometimes all I do is complicate a photo by adding texture. Knowing when and how much and which texture to add is an art that takes lots of practice.

Today’s texture challenge from Kim Klassen Cafe to use a single texture, kk_kristin, was a welcome restriction. By limiting my texture play to a single texture, I learned how to anticipate how the texture would affect my photo, whether to add more layers of texture, a warming filter or a cooling filter.
