Quote of the day: “The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life’s plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.” — Robert Louis Stevenson

Soft flower image – textured with Kim Klassen texture

This week I restarted a practice of writing down 3 things I’m grateful for each day. It is such a lovely practice. Each day I always seem to find more than 3 things I am grateful for. Practicing gratitude daily brings me joy and reminds me how blessed I am in my life.

Here is a sampling from my gratitude list this week:

  • Cool weather
  • Breath
  • Gracie’s playfulness

Gracie

  • Beautiful, open-window weather
  • Salad spinner
  • Electricity (we lost power twice this week)
  • Texture of hibiscus flower petals

Love the original texture of this flower, couldn’t resist adding more texture with one of Kim Klassen’s textures

  • Ability to move with ease
  • Life
  • Waking up to rain outside my window
  • A walk at Lyndale Peace Park

My sentiments exactly!

  • Quiet time alone
  • Strangers who are willing to share and help
  • Lovely conversation with my daughter
  • Ai Chi (weekly water exercise class, similar to Tai Chi but in warm water pool)
  • Cherry Tomatoes

Cherry Tomatoes!

  • All of my wonderful women friends
  • Our lovely back yard

Leaves and bokeh in our back yard

  • 3 frogs jumping into the pond
  • The infinite variety of leaves

Leaves from bushes I trimmed in the yard

  • Lovely conversation with Jon (my husband)
  • Jon

Here’s Jon holding a photo print for me – I wanted to photograph the actual print to show the size of it in my Etsy shop.

Open-window weather! I was just thinking about Fall yesterday and one of my favorite things is to open the windows in the morning and listen to the birds. Cannot wait! Beautiful post and print as well.

Beautiful post. I loved reading all the things you were thankful for. That is a good practice to get into.
Beautiful flower photo too. The B/W is very dramatic and interesting.

Marilyn,
I’m visiting thru Liv Lane’s Bliss List. I peeked around your site & love your Women of a Certain Age! Beautiful photos & I’m pretty sure one of those women massaged me before my chiropractic adjustment today! Small world. Have a good week!
