Quote of the day:  “Of all the forces of nature, I should think the wind contains the largest amount of motive power—that is, power to move things. … As yet, the wind is an untamed, and unharnessed force; and quite possibly one of the greatest discoveries hereafter to be made, will be the taming, and harnessing of it.” — Abraham Lincoln

Windmills and corn field – Northern Iowa

On the way home from a trip to Kansas City last week, I pulled out my point-and-shoot camera every so often and looked out the window of the car for likely photographic subjects. These windmills caught my eye. With a bright blue sky, a few puffy clouds floating by and the green and gold of crops growing the fields, these photos make me imagine floating away on the wind and a cloud on a perfect summer’s day.

I shot these photos from the car as we sped by the windmills. I’m getting better at anticipating the right moment to capture my vision and I’m quite surprised that the photos were not blurry. I love the way the line of windmills extends as far as the eye can see, like carefully planned sculptures.

Each photo is wonderful, but the one at the top has that vintage look that always catches my eye. Well done!

Like Abraham Lincoln, I’m wondering when we’ll harness the winds for the good of all.

Great editing.
I like all of them, though. And, I’m impressed that these were taken from a moving car. Great work!

My favorite is the black and white, though the vintage look you achieved with textures is marvelous too.

My favorite is the first one. The texturing is perfect to convey the vintage feel. I would never have guessed you took these photos from a moving car. Amazing!
