Tawny Port and Crystal Glass

I had a little flu bug today and didn’t feel like doing a lot. But I wanted to play with my camera and make some photos. I’ve wanted to try making HDR photographs for a long time and today I felt like playing with them and learning how to make them using Photoshop.

It was totally play for me and so much fun. I made a series of photos (using a tripod) of things I found around the house at different exposures. Then I got out my  Photoshop book: Adobe Photoshop for Photographers by Martin Evening, and started playing (a.k.a. learning).

Here are some of the results I got. Oh, and I had some photos I had shot last November intending to experiment with HDR, so I worked some of them up as well. What do you think?

I was really excited about the Gooseberry Falls photos as it was so difficult to capture the full range of light in the photos and when I tried to use a single photo, the highlights were blown out or the darks were too dark. I love the way the bottle of port and crystal glass look so 3-dimensional in the photo above.
